This study is designed for a small group of people who are willing and
able to wrestle with the topic of community and take actions in order to
live differently. It's ideal for a Sunday school class, church group,
or community group.
This course invites you to
- consider the lives of the early church and its Christian community
- share stories about your own experiences in community
- connect deeply and authentically as you gain insights into the lives of your small group members
- learn to engage with and love your community
- grow with friends in a safe, encouraging, yet challenging, environment.
You'll dive into the the book of Acts and reflect upon and talk about being part of a community. My hope is that you and your group members will acknowledge difficulties while learning to be delighted in community.
The course, Christian Community Bible Study, consists of 12 sessions that involve reading the book of Acts, discussing selected passages, and sharing experiences prompted by the main topic covered in the scripture. Your purchase gives you access to the study including downloadable and printable PDFs of each lesson. You may make copies of each lesson for distribution to small group members participating in this study.
For each session, there are leader's notes and video recordings sharing personal experiences relating to the topic. You'll have everything you need to get people talking about things that matter.
Your Instructor
I'm here to help you experience a new way of living, thinking, and doing as a Christian.
I've come to understand that experiencing the world and interacting with the people can be transformative. Doing things and discussing our experiences, honestly and kindly, can lead to deeper understanding of who we are, who our neighbor is, and who God is - and how he's calling us to act.
So much, that is, too much, of our lives are transactional, even in church. Tasks are assigned and celebrated upon completion while relationships, genuine friendships, are dismissed as unimportant and irrelevant to our cause -- except, sometimes, within our already established circle of companions.
As far as my credentials, I have participated in and facilitated Bible studies, small groups, and church teams. I've led the strategic planning process at my church and developed a platform for its small group ministry. In the community, I host the occasional bike ride and keep involved in the local cycling community. I believe in grace, not works, and being reconciled with God through Jesus.
